NEWS of WENDELL Mrs. A. O. Bridgers spent Tuesday in Apex with her daugh ter, Mrs. L. A. Raynor, who had surgery last Wednesday at Apex Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Jimmie Hobgood spent Sunday at Wilmington. Mrs. Josephine Aiker is a pa tient at Duke Hospital. Mrs. Pat Dodd has returned af ter being called to Greensboro Sunday due to the serious illness of her mother. Alvin Milstead of Pitman, N. J., came Friday for a visit with Mrs. E. I. Bridgers who will accom pany him to Merchantville, N. J., to visit her sister. Mrs. D. B. Wagstaff has returned home from Rex Hospital for an appendectomy. Mrs. Sam Hagley of Belmont, Miss Katherine Kannon and “Boo” Knuckley spent last week in Front Royal, Va., as guests of their sis ter and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. George Silek. Mrs. Sam Hagley, Rose Marie, Sammie and Patricia of Belmont, Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell Kannon and family of Charlotte, Mr. and Mrs. George Kannon and family of Belmont, Mrs. George Silek and son, Frankie of Front, Royal, Va., were all guests of the Kannons and Knuckleys last weekend. Dr. Lee Sedwitz of Zebulon and Ed Kannon of Wendell attended the horse races at Pinehurst last Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Mack Yancey, Ed Kannon, Louis Todd, George Brown and Miss Gail Renfro were weekend visitors at Wilmington. Dr. and Mrs. Lee Sedwitz, Mrs. Sedwitz’s mother, Mrs. Sidney Britton of Charlottesville, Va., and Ed Kannon were guests at a steak supper at Jack Hornes’ Field Stream Farms last Tuesday night, r——~ Mrs. Max Hanna flew to Charleston, S. C., on Friday to spend the weekend with friends. Mrs. Van Frady was a patient at Wake Memorial Hospital for diag nostic treatment. Mrs. Bill Britt and sons, Bill and Tom, spent the weekend in Roanoke Rapids with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. I. D. Hinton. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Knuckley attended the funeral of a relative, Dewin Moses, in Greensboro Sat urday. A. H. Baynes, James Tucker and Robert Liles left Saturday for as paragus market in Bridgeton, N. J., for six weeks. Miss Rachel Raybon has return ed home after being a patient at Wake Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Harley Hopkins and Sandra visited her sister and brother-in law, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Hat chett, in Dublin, Ga., last weekend. Mrs. Jake Pearce and Susan re cently visited her brother in At lanta, Ga. Mrs. Lillie Belle Cagle has ac cepted a position at Willetts Beau ty Shop in Cameron Village. She will move to Raleigh. Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Clay were called to Carlisle, Ky., last week due to the death of Mr. Clay’s fa ther, J. H. Clay. J. W. Dale left Sunday for Up per Marlboro, Md., tobacco market. Mrs. Joe Raper is a patient at Wake Memorial Hospital. • The Asburian Class of the Meth odist Church met in the home of Mrs. E. I. Bridgers with Mrs. Durwood White co-hostess. The business session was conducted by the President, Mrs. M. M. Veasey. The program was given by Mrs. Calvin Richardson on the 5th, 6th and 7th Commandments. The May meeting will be a birthday month and will be celebrated with a birthday party at church. Fourteen members were present. During the social hour open face sandwiches, cookies and punch were served from a lovely table with orchid and pi ik flowers. Mrs. M. C. Todd spent the weekend in Farmville with her daughter, Mrs. Sue Holmes. She returned on Tuesday. Rev. and Mrs. John D. Whidden are attending the 118th Annual I ' — State Convention of Christian Churches (Disciples of ChTist) in New Bern this week. All sessions of the convention will be held in the Sudan Shrine Temple and the convention will adjourn Sunday evening. Others planning to at tend parts of the convention from Wendell are Mrs. John J. Mattox and Mrs. P. L. White, Jr. Mrs. D. W. Thomas and Mrs. Ben Tongue will attend the Wom en for Christmount Meeting in Black Mountain the 25th and 26th of April. They are the N. C. State Representatives to Dis ciples of Christ Assembly and will be meeting with representatives from all the other Southeastern States. They will also attend the Annual Women for Christmount Breakfast on Friday morning in Black Mountain. Mrs. J. H.
